Dr. Ercan Kuşcu
Dr. Ercan Kuşcu received his B.Sc. in Geological Engineering from Hacettepe University in 1988, followed by his M.Sc. in 1997 and Ph.D. in 2011 from the same department.
Dr. Kuşcu began his professional career in 1990 and has held positions as a geological engineer at Bülent Kiper Geotechnics, a research assistant at Hacettepe University, and later as a project geologist, project manager, and Head of the Base and Precious Metals Department at the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration (MTA). During this period, he led and contributed to numerous exploration programs across Türkiye, focusing on iron, base-precious metal deposits, including field management, exploration geology, and geochemical investigations.
Between 2019 and 2025, Dr. Kuşcu served as Technical Lead at Demir Export Inc., where he was responsible for geological evaluation and management of mineral exploration projects. Since 2025, he has continued his professional work as Co-Founder and Geology Director at Gaia Jeolog.
Dr. Kuşcu’s areas of expertise include Au–Ag–Zn–Pb mineralization hosted in carbonate and metamorphic rocks, porphyry Cu–Mo systems, skarn-type iron deposits, and hydrothermal ore-forming processes. He has contributed to the preparation of numerous geochemical, mineral exploration, and economic geology reports in Türkiye and has authored scientific publications in national and international journals.
He has participated in several national training courses and workshops on skarn deposit geology, hydrothermal alteration, isotope geochemistry, and base and precious metal exploration. In 2011, he also attended the international training program titled “Sediment-Hosted and Unconformity-Related Ore Deposits” organized by the Korea Institute of Geoscience and Mineral Resources (KIGAM).
Dr. Kuşcu is a member of Chamber of Geological Engineers of Türkiye (TMMOB JMO) and is also a UMREK competent person (CP).
